A Comparison of Kindle DX & Kindle with Global Wireless

The really obvious difference between these two digital reading gadgets available to buy at the moment is that just one works in America while the other works in over 100 countries all around the globe. Obviously if you reside outside the USA (or if you're a US citizen who frequently visits other countries) then that makes your choice (such as it is) quite clear; You have to choose the Global Kindle Reading Device.

Besides that, the clearest difference between the two is that of size. The Kindle DX Reading Device is far bigger both as far it's display and how much memory it has. It is also far bigger as far as it's cost.

The DX is 9.7 inches and the Global Kindle is 6 inches. The larger display is most helpful when reading a digital newspaper On the flip side, the smaller size of the global version may make it easier to carry with you.

There's also a large difference as far as memory. The larger Kindle can hold over 3000 books, magazines, & newspapers while the other version of this wireless reading device can hold up to 1,500 books. But really, who has that many books?! I have a very difficult time believing this extra space to be needed for the vast majority of readers.

Another difference between these devices is the auto-rotating screen that the DX has.The DX also has a built in PDF reader that the smaller version does not have.

They both have access to about a half million books, newspapers, and magazines which can usually be bought for lower prices than their paperback alternatives.

They both have text to speech software which can turn all of your books into audio books.

Neither of these electronic reading devices have any monthly charges to worry about. The way the wireless service works is much like the service for a GPS.

Both devices have a basic web browswer that lets you surf the web from anywhere. This browser is designed for text based websites like blogs and Wikepedia. It's not for pictures or videos.
