The Beatles USB
The Beatles are one of the few bands who have never made their music available to be bought as mp3 downloads on AmazonMP3 or iTunes. I'm pretty sure they are the only band that has sold millions of albums that isn't included on iTunes. When the announcement was made that The Beatles music was going to come out in mp3 format most people just guessed that this meant that their music was going to be available but that's not the case, instead The Beatles USB will contain The Beatles entire 1960s stereo catalog.
The Beatles "Apple" USB memory stick includes what amounts to the Beatles in Stereo CD Box Set except obviously in a far different format than DVD and 16 CDs included in the box set. This one flash drive that you can hold in the palm of your hand includes all of the same music and all of the same visual elements as the much larger box set.
The USB contains all of the remastered Beatles stereo tracks in the box set twice because it holds 320kbps mp3s and 24bit FLAC files. I'm sure you have experience with mp3s (320kbps mp3s are of very high quality) but what about the 24bit FLAC files, what what is FLAC? Essentially these FLAC files are "lossless" and this means they do not have any loss of sound quality like mp3s do. And because these FLACs are actually 24bit instead of the 16 bit files that are on compact discs, they are actually of better quality than CDs.
What this means is that this Beatles USB contains the highest quality versions of The Beatles remastered stereo mixes! Of course, that might change if they decide to release these remasters on Blu-Ray or DVD but for now this is the big cheese for audiophiles as far as The Beatles stereo remasters.
What about the original mono mixes? Unfortunately they are not contained on this USB flash drive. You still must purchase The Beatles Remastered Mono CD Box Set to hear their music in mono.
