If you have more than one computer at home, there are time that is expected for you to share the content between the computers. Since the digital content used nowadays is mammoth in size, the conventional floppy disks are not useful. Since using a USB drive is also a bother, home computer networking will be a better option in the long run.
Although many people take home computer networking as a serious subject, it is quite a plain process. Almost all the modern operating systems such as Windows, Mac OSX, and Linux support home computer network and they offer easy wizard type dialog boxes for novice to configure a home network. Let's see the requisites for setting up a home network.
First of all, you need to have two or more PCs or laptops for establishing home computer networking. The PCs that need to be interconnected required to have network interface cards installed. Since the most of the modern PC come with a default network interface, you may not have to worry about this. Then, a network hub or a router required. Although both these devices do the same thing when it comes to home computer networking, they are used in two different scenarios. The hub is just for connecting the computers locally, but the router does the same thing while connecting you to the high speed Internet. Based on your demand, you can choose either of these two devices for home computer networking|Based on the kind of the network you will like to have at home, you can select one of these devices.
When you select the router or the hub, make sure it has network ports equal to or more than of the number of PCs you have at home. In case if you can afford a wireless router or a wireless access point, then you can achieve home computer networking in a more convenient manner. In this manner, you don't have to wire the house. Instead, just keeping the computers at a range where the signals are strong is enough. When compared to the wired method, wireless can be quite expensive, since wireless network interfaces and wireless routers are expensive than the conventional networking devices.
